Is a technique for using electronic images of paper documents in an information retrieval system. Also simply called DIP. DIP enables the electronic storage of complete paper documents in (typically) optical storage systems which are capable of storing large amounts of documents. The documents can then be more easily accessed by a large number of document users. See also Item Image Processing and Image Plus.
