1. An ISO term. 1. ISO Securities Message Types term. The smallest element, identified by a field tag or a name in a message text. 2. (9735) A predefined set of normally functionally related data elements that are identified by their sequential positions within the set. 2. A piece of data (a name, balance, percentage, etc.). Fields are collected together into records (e.g.. staff record, account record, etc.).
