A term used in a multi-branch installation. It has two meanings 1. The branch from which the request or transaction originally came from. For example branch A may send a request to branch B to fiat a transaction on behalf of a customer of branch B who has requested branch A to make a deal. In this example branch A is the originating branch of the inter-branch fiat request. 2. The branch which `owns' the account.
