Shielding
Full Definition

Shielding is a part of fiat. In many computers a user profile is defined for each user. It allows the use to access only certain system processes and up to a certain amount, depending on his staff grade. The systems Fiat module first checks the transaction against the users profile. A transaction can, for example, be rejected because the entry clerk is not allowed to enter that product transaction type. A Teller for instance is not allowed to enter money market transactions. Other shielding criteria are on product or branch level. Examples of these are: 1. A savings account cannot have a debit balance. 2. The branch does not sell credit cards. Shielding is performed in terms of: 1. Branch. 2. Staff grade. 3. Staff. 4. Device. 5. Local shielding criteria.
