Although most LLC's are set up to exist perpetually, most states allow the LLC to choose a dissolution date. For instance, if a LLC was set up to buy assets and then dissolve at the end of 10 years with all proceeds being distributed to members, it would setup a dissolution date 10 years from the date of formation.
