NetSpeak Corp., a Boca Raton, FL, marketer of Internet telphony-based products will be bought by Adir Technologies, Inc for $48 million. Closely held Adir, a recent spinoff of Internet-telephony service provider Net2Phone Inc., said it expects to complete the deal in the fourth quarter, pending approval of the company's shareholders and government regulators. Adir said it would pay between #3 and #3.10 for each of NetSpeak's 15.5 million outstanding shares. Adir licenses Net2Phone's software for Voice over Internet Protocol. Adir said money for the acquisition came from two rounds of funding, the most recent of which totaled $25 million and was secured from investors such as Cisco Systems Inc., and Tokyo-based Softbank Corp. Adir said, Mike Rich, former CEO of NetSpeak, will serve as Chief Operating Officer of the merged companies.
